Whilst some people decide to have a separate bath and shower in their bathroom, there are others that are lacking in space. This doesn't mean that you have to give up on your idea of having both ways of getting yourself clean, but you won't be able to have a bath and a shower cubicle.
Instead, you are going to need to bring both of these things together and have a bath with a shower in it.
Whilst this is going to be useful for space-saving, it does mean that you need to think about how you can shower without getting your entire bathroom soaking wet.
One great solution to this is to buy a bath screen. But, how do you know what type of screen to buy and why?
You might think that a bath screen is just a bath screen, but there are a few different types of bath screens that you can have.
The most popular types of screen are single screens. These, as the name suggests, are a simple one pane of glass screen, which can be moved via a hinge when you want to get in and out or clean the bath. You can also choose a double screen if you want to be able to easily get in and out of the bath, this type of screen will have a hinge in the centre.
If you need even more easy access, then a foldaway bath screen could be a better option for you. This type of screen will be made up of several vertical, narrow panes of glass. These mean that the screen can be completely folded away when you don't need it, which is often a useful addition if you are a family with young children.
Another important thing to think about when it comes to your bath screen is how thick it is. The general rule for this is that the thicker it is then the better it will be safety-wise. The thickest glass that you can choose is 8mm -however, this is also the heaviest.
The thinnest is 3mm and whilst it is not anywhere near as thick as the 8mm glass, it can still function well for you and your family.
One common question that many people have when it comes to bath screens is how best to clean them? Much like many cleaning tips such as our Tips on Cleaning your Bathroom, it is a good idea to clean your bath screen daily, as this will mean that there is much less chance that limescale will be able to develop and then need scrubbing off.
The simplest way to clean your screen is to use a squeegee, you can wipe this down the shower screen down with the squeegee when you have finished showering. However, despite doing this, you may find that limescale does build up with regular use. If this does happen then there are a variety of shower cleaning products out there that are designed to effectively remove the limescale and have the glass shining.
You may even find that you can buy a shower screen that comes with an additional coating, this coating is designed to help minimise the risk of limescale building up when you use your shower or bath, as well as make it easier to clean.
As you can see, choosing a bath screen is much harder than you may realise. You need to think about your bath shape and size, you also need to think about how easily you need to access your bath or shower.
You also need to consider how thick you want the glass to be, as well as how you are going to keep the shower screen clean and clear too.
Once you have all these things in mind, you will have the perfect shower screen and hopefully the ideal bath/shower combo too. This means that you and your family will be able to shower in surroundings that are not only perfect for them, but that looks great too. The perfect combination for any modern bathroom.
