A Guide to Bathroom Mirrors
If you have just one accessory in the bathroom, it's probably a mirror. We've had mirrors in our homes since the 16th century, but in that time they've moved from being something only the wealthiest homes could afford to an item which is much less budget-busting. The choice of bathroom mirrors in 2017 is extensive, and if you have no idea where to start on your hunt for that perfect bathroom mirror, here are a few things you'll need to think about.
Size and Location
The main thing to think about is how large a mirror do you want or need. It makes the most sense to choose a mirror relative to the size of your bathroom – a tiny mirror in a large room might look very out of place.  Smaller bathrooms, on the other hand, can benefit from a larger mirror as it can make the bathroom feel more spacious and help diffuse the light around the room. Measure the space you have available for the mirror and try to work out which size would be best. The most normal location for the mirror in a bathroom is over the sink, but is this the best place for your needs?
Lighted Mirrors
Having lights around the mirror is not a new idea and can avoid shadows from overhead lights when shaving or applying make-up. Remember too that the light from the mirror isn't just to help you with your daily care routine; it can also be used to provide a softer source of light when you're relaxing in the bath or having a shower as it is not as harsh as the main bathroom light. The LED lights which are most commonly found in modern bathroom mirrors use less energy than a conventional bulb and are extremely durable, giving reliable service for many years.
Combination Mirrors
If you're really struggling for space in the bathroom and don't think you have space for a mirror, work out whether you can combine your mirror with something else in the bathroom. Lots of bathroom cabinets have a mirrored surface and are slimline so that they don't project too far from the wall. Look for mirrors with a magnifying surface so that you can dispense with a separate magnifier for close-up bathroom tasks. Illuminated bathroom mirrors get rid of the need for separate lighting. You can even get mirrors which have a Bluetooth connection, allowing you to connect up your smartphone or other devices to listen to music while you're in the bath.
Budget
Although the cutting-edge Bluetooth mirror is at the top end of the price range for mirrors, most large stores will carry a range of bathroom mirrors to suit all budgets. We all know it can be easy to get carried away when you're shopping for bathroom accessories, so work out how much you can afford and then concentrate on finding the best mirror at your price point.
